Hi USBCA Members,
I regret to inform you that we fell short of achieving the goal of having our
over the board national championship in 2018. To all who were thinking of
playing this year and to those who supported the effort, I could not be more
grateful to you.
I do not have the e-mail addresses of those outside our group address who may
want to hear this news, nor the phone numbers of those in our organization who
are off-line. If someone could spread the word, I would be grateful.
With that said, I have begun to reach out and plan already for next year’s OTB
championship. I’ve also started inquiries about making this group a charitable
organization in the United States.
I mean this next statement, I’m not just spouting political-speak. As your
president, I happen to be playing that role right now. This does not make me a
better person. I can’t possibly know everything, so I covet and ask for your
input at any time you wish to share it about how to make the USBCA a better
group, and I want to know about what it would take for you who are US citizens
to participate in next year’s tournament over the board.
For the group as a whole, everyone included, I want to know what I can do to
help you be more active and to promote your love of chess, and what you are
willing to do to make our group better.
Thank you all for allowing me to serve you.
Jim
