requirements, either with the original invitation or with the first round
pairings. I am thinking of a game/60 competition. That's where each player
has just one hour to complete the game. This US-Italy match, for example,
gives each player a total of 90 minutes. I'll keep you posted!

Though at times things do suddenly crack up into my working schedules, but
skype maybe good as both players can end a game within hours time. I enjoy
playing chess.

It is very good to hear from you. Unfortunately, this first USBCA realtime
tournament, not correspondence, is open only to U.S. citizens and U.S.
residents. U.S. residents include people who live at least a few months
out of the year in this country. For example, Randy Kruzeniski, whose name
appears on the list of players, though he is a Canadian citizen, he does
spend generally three to five months each year in the U.S.
Therefore, he is
eligible to take part in this tournament. Our next realtime, that is,
over-the-board, tournament to take place on skype will definitely be open to
you and to all of our international friends. I am not sure at this time
exactly when or what it will be, but we do very definitely intend to run two
or three tournaments each year utilizing skype, Lichess, and Freechess.
I do thank you for your continued interst and participation in USBCA events.
And do please let me know soonest if you meet our qualifications for this
tournament.

Since that I have a personal assistant who can assist me during my morning
periods, it will be fine to trying out skype games.

My thanks to you all for stepping up. There are a couple format changes to
mention, and it is my hope that this last call will induce some more to step
forward.
You will be asked to play just two games. Games can be played on skype,
Lichess, or Freechess. You will be matched against one player from the
Italian team, and you will each play one game as white and one game as
black. As best we can based on participants, we will match you against a
player of your approximate playing ability. I am proposing a clock time of
game/90 with a ten-second increment per move.
If you are playing on skype, there will be a third-party timekeeper to
manage clocks, record moves, and resolve any issues, including interpreting
where needed. If you are playing on Lichess or Freechess, of course the
system will manage time and scorekeeping. You would be using your own board
and pieces, you would not be required to use an onscreen board.
We hope to start the tournament on April 1st or as soon thereafter as
possible, so this has a somewhat short fuse.
We will plan to use the entire month of April to get all games played, so
working folks will have ample time to get games scheduled and played.
I hope it doesn't happen, but if you want or need to remove your name from
the above list, let me know soonest. Same goes if you would like to add
your name to the list. We would dearly love to have more of you onboard to
represent the US!
If you know of a player who might like to participate, please, by all
means, pass this information along. I ask only that players either be US
citizens, or spend an appreciable amount of time in the US.
