Hi All,
It seems prudent to suspend Chess Gather, at least my activity with it,
until probably the beginning of March. Tournament demands, medical
appointments, and Hadley, all have to be tended, and it simply is not
leaving time or energy which Chess Gather deserves. For example, I am timing
a game in a little less than six hours, after which I simply must attend to
my Hadley students, who have been terribly ignored this week. Next Friday, I
will be accompanying my wife to a medical procedure. I have little doubt
that there will be substantial demands for timekeeping duties as my Round
Robin tournament winds down. But it will end when February ends, if not
before. I look forward to resuming regular weekly Chess Gather meetings, and
I look forward to doing my best to attract additional attendees. I may be
moving to the Out-of-sight TeamTalk platform which has excellent sound
quality and supports Macs, so you Mac users can attend if you are so
inclined. I may also revisit the question of meeting time and day to see if
more participation can be generated. Lately, Paul Benson, Jim Slagle, and I
have been the primary participants. My thanks go out to Jim and Paul for
their support and generous sharing of their knowledge and experience. It's
been invaluable. I only wish my game record of this year accurately
reflected the knowledge Ive gained. Any of you with a wish to improve your
game could do a lot worse than spending a couple hours with us. I hope
you'll give it some thought.
