to do that, and to do it well.
Here's a very crude analogy. In my youth, I was quite a good sprinter.
Represented England once in Valencia in 1995. Got down to 11.6 seconds for
the 100 meters, which is not bad for a 15-years old. Tyson's seen the
television clip of me being interview by Kris Akabusi, so can attest to
that.
So, I do have quite a lot of knowledge of the sport, although I have not ran
on an athletics track for over 23 years.
Now, imagine me going onto an online forum, who has Usain Bolt as a
principal contributor and me going on there and offering to coach or train
the participants for $40 an hour.
It is not only laughable, but absurd.
Now, I have been pondering for a while now, whether to publish my annotated
games (over 120) in a book, only electronic and maybe approach Everyman for
their thoughts. It is under serious consideration.

For the most part, I think Alan's right. The services Mr. Rodgerson posted
about would be more welcome if they came from a titled player with
understanding of folks' financial constraints. Wait, we do have such
players who are part of the list. Paul Benson's lessons on Sundays are free
for the listening and participation. Chris's commentary and analysis is
second to none and I've sworn by it for a long time. Plus, there is Chess
Gather.
Credentials are always important when bringing something like instruction or
lessons to others' attention. And the folks I've mentioned have lots of
credentials.
As for chess software noticesnotices about chess clocks or software is very
appropriate. Though financial considerations--prices, availability, etc. are
mentioned no one on list is making a selfa buck. Of course, I'd pay forty
dollars for something Chris or Tyson published regarding technique or their
games through Everyman.
But,there again, that would be legit and through a credentialed means.
This stuff is very important for us to discuss both on here and in board
officers' meetings.
