All,
Have all arrived at our Metropole Hotel on Lake Ohrid.
Everyone well and no luggage lost.
A very smooth flight to Skopje.
Things went downhill from there on, having to hang around at the airport for
over 2 hours, waiting for our hosts to bus us to our hotel. When asked how long
the coach journey would take, we were told 2 hours. Just over 4 hours later, we
eventually arrived.
So, a rather tedious and laborious journey, but all ensconced.
First meal was pretty good, actually. Bodes well if this standard is maintained.
Hotel seems decent enough. Nice appointed rooms and a stone’s throw from the
lake itself. Initial inspections shows that there’s not much else around, but
further inspections later tomorrow.
Internet seems to be very spasmodic. Very slow wireless connection. So,
reporting instantly may be an issue.
After such a journey, we didn’t manage to get to the opening ceremony, as
dinner was more important. Technical meeting at 10.00 AM tomorrow and round 1
at 15.00. A Swiss pairing system, so expect to get somebody decent in round 1.
