Having you be part of our tournament as guest would be a great
opportunity. Agan Hadrick, a player from I think from one of the
former eastern bloc countries played in a couple of our tournaments as
guest a decade or so ago. So, having other folks beyond the USBCA/USCF
membership has been done before.
Plus, getting to meet in person as well as on list would be excellent.
It's been some time since I heard the interview of which you speak,
but I really enjoyed hearing about your activities related to chess
and beyond like rock climbing, et al.

I agree with you completely and believe it's time for us to start
thinking about next year's tournament, not this year's. I know of
only one person who's pretty set to go, and it's not me.
If, indeed, COVID-19 is under better control, that is vaccine or just
diminished considerably, I believe we need to have two tournaments,
whose participants can overlap. One should be online. The other in
person.
AS many of us have expressed on here before because our Skype
experience and knowledge of Zoom or other platforms, an online
tournament should be held and, quite honestly, have minimal cost. An
OTB tournament consisting of four or five rounds of chess (dependent
on the number of participants) should be held as well. My preference
is that it be located in Pittsburgh, Indianapolis, St. Louis, or
somewhere else that is centrally located in the country so that the
cost to travel is equalized for all who desire to come.
Of course, recruiting younger blind or VI participants is a whole
other topic to discuss and put into action in another thread but it,
too, has to be considered for the OTB tournaments to continue as we've
had them in years past.
So, as I'm concerned, it's onto 2021, God willing for our OTB
championship..

will probably never know, where I picked up the virus. Theresa never did
show symptoms, but she has the antibodies. We assume she developed them
in
her body's fight against what she was getting from me, but that's only
conjecture. And we were as careful as we could be, right from the start
of
this whole mess.
Ok, enough. Sorry, folks, but I feel rather strongly about COVID and
what
people are doing and not doing. If you do choose to attend the
tournament
in New Hampshire, be careful, be as safe, and also as considerate toward

Have you recovered enough to consider going ? I'd still be interested in
playing if there are enough players to hold four full rounds of chess.

a week and a half to go, the cost of the room seems to be a financial
reality check and may be the deciding factor in whether to withdraw my
participation if there's not going to be a good turn-out.
Here's to you being in good health. Amy and I have been laying pretty
low
as far as taking all the COVID precautions even though Indiana is no
longer
requiring folks to wear masks in public. Allen County, where Fort Wayne
is,
just had its highest case diagnosis count in one day this past week.
With
that said, I am so itching to play OTB chess with blind folks, sighted
folks, or mixed company, it's not even funny. So, now onto scheduling my
games for the various Skype stuff we're all doing.
