Hi all,
My name is Andrew. I'm the mission worker at Leichhardt Uniting Church
(LUC) and Sydney University working with Christian Students Uniting (CSU).
I'm a late comer to the UCA as well only joining LUC in 2015 when I moved
into Epworth House - the student accomodation next door to the church.
(Previously a Sydney Anglican as well). My role involves a hodge podge of
activity. I do some work alongside Sydney Alliance on the affordable
housing campaign. Coming from an LGBTIQ affirming space I've got a
particular interest in seeing churches provide a safe space for people to
work our their identity and theology.

I’m a relatively late starter to the Uniting Church, having grown up in
the Anglican denomination. I did theological study at Ridley College in
Melbourne & was part of communities there that were involved in what was
then called ‘holistic’ ministry, which led to coming back to Sydney to work
in the Anglican Parish of South Sydney, covering Redfern, Waterloo &
Beaconsfield. I then had a number of years as a School Chaplain (having
been a High school teacher earlier on) and in the process of that period
began the transition to the Uniting Church. (a long story!)
I’ve done some extra study around themes of the ‘Missional Church’ (the
post-Christendom questions that arise about church models, relationship to
culture, theology and definitions of ‘the gospel’) & am interested in
questions that are broadly related to ‘Open Theism’ such as the way that
Evolution influences our understanding of God, the world, providence, God’s
power and atonement.

Liuanga Palu is my name.
· Born and raised in Sydney's Inner-West with a proud Tongan
Heritage;
· I've been attending Marrickville Uniting Church with my parents
since the age of 3, and still remain here with Hepisipa Tonga Parish
congregation;
· Became a Christian 6 years ago after getting involved with the
*'Tongan
Youth For Eternity' *ministry (Tonga Parish) and got to know the God and
Jesus of the bible Tonga Parish;
· I currently serve on the Tonga Parish Young Adult Ministry team;
· For 4 years now I've been a Community Organiser for Pacific
Communities with the Sydney Alliance;
· I've been largely involved in organising Pacific communities
around key events such as: 2016's People Climate March, Talanoa4Climate
Campaign and in QLD for the QLD Synod's Talanoa4Justice event;
· I am the co-founder of CHOICE, a Faith and Leadership program
(resourced by Sydney Presbytery for 3 years) aimed for young adults
primarily from our Pacific church communities (and now beyond) that sees
young adults who are somewhat dissatisfied with church build their
Christian conviction to lead with faith and passion wherever God has called
them to serve;
· I also just started my Period of Discernment;
· Korean BBQ is my weakness.

Introducing myself: Ken Day.
I serve as minister of the word at St Stephen's Uniting in Macquarie St.
My 3rd year here has just started. My last placement was in the Far North
Coast Presbytery as a Mission Resource minister to the congregations for 4
years and then 3 years in the Byron Shire Churches as their minister.
Previously Terrigal for 17 years, and Brighton-le-sands Kogarah was my
first placement in 1984 for just under 10 years.
In 1981 I joined the Uniting Church from the Presbyterian Church as I
heard the Uniting Church wanted to be a movement and not a denomination.
Effective local congregations has been my passion, seeing the local
congregation as part of the network of the body of Christ, working
alongside Synod / Assembly initiatives.
In a former life I was a teacher in state schools, mainly in E.S.L.

Glen - the new mission person at the Presbytery office. I've worked as a
community organiser with civil society organisations (churches, unions,
charities etc.) and was the New Congregations Consultant in the Board of
Mission of the NSW-ACT Synod from 2000-2010. Before that I was a musician.
I have qualifications economics and theology and recently completed a
mid-life crisis PhD looking at building leadership capacity in
not-for-profits.
Happy to meet one to one with anyone on this list, and looking forward to
some group gatherings.
