[uae] switch to pal on gui activate?

I just discovered that if I have ntsc=true set in the config, and bring
up the (GTK) gui with F12-Ret, I get
PAL mode, 50Hz (h=227 v=312)
in the log window, and it does seem to think it now in PAL mode, even
though the gui show ntsc. If I select pal, then ntsc in the GUI, I seem
to be back to ntsc. And as a side effect, the audio on some things seems
to be much cleaner. Anybody else seen this?
