I'm rebuilding an intel laptop at the moment and will get it running there 
first, then, and then look at the build scripts and see if I can come up with 
something.

Quite frankly, the Darwinports thing SHOULD build just like the linux/BSD port, 
so hopefully it's a matter of checking to see if you're using Darwinports 
(could be tricky) and then saying 'ok ignore the osX SDL hackery and just 
build'... but. Could also be a pipe dream (:
