Hello

Amiga codepage is (coincidental?) same as ISO-8859-1, it would not be
possible to use several different encodings at the samt time, except for
those with a byte order marker (BOM) such as unicode stuff (UTF-8,
UTF-16BE, UTF-16LE). So you can e.g. differ between "ö" and "ö".
ö is a german character and ö is the UTF-8 code for it.
But nevertheless, ISO-8859-1 (or Amiga standard encoding) is quite good to
represent most common european characters with lowest count of bytes.

Regardless of this encoding stuff, even if you could patch AmigaOS to
handle it, you will still have Problems in filenames like " ", "AUX",
etc...
