Peter,I think you'll have to Google for docxreader.exe. It should be easy to find. The jpg attachment I sent was only an image file to illustrate that the installation would go via a file called docxreader_setup.exe. I guess you can Google either docxreader.exe or docxreader_setup.exe but the former is simpler. My version of Open Office does not allow me to open docx. files. Update necessary? Attachment refers. David Alleston On Wed, April 18, 2012 13:31, Peter and Jean Ashton wrote:I have the same problem, also using Windows XP. Can't open docx. files. (This often happens, and I now know how to ask friends to re-send using a different form, but don't want to have to write similarly to outside agencies). The following message appears when I try to open them 'This file does not have a programme associated with it for performing this action. Create an Association in the Folder Options Control Panel' I am still using Windows XP and cannot find the 'Options Control Panel'. I have tried all the folder files, and associated options but nothing seems to have anything to do with the required action! I think that at some stage I must get a more up-to-date computer, but am partly put off by the fact that as soon as one does that, they bring out a new programme.
