Here's a few headlines from the Turley Mill Firewise Committee:
* The Firewise Committee has been meeting with the Cerro Negro Forest
Council and members of the Carson National Forest to help ensure
that the thinning project adjoining Turley Mill is fully funded and
moving forward.
* We have applied for and have been awarded a (small) grant to help
with fire mitigation. Details will follow.
* Our drought continues: The Hondo Seco Fire Department has asked
that all residents refrain from any burning. Slash should be
chipped or taken to the dump.
* May 1st is National Community Wildfire Preparedness Day: An
/important /reminder for creating defensible space and continued
fire mitigation efforts.
