"Toronto Neighbourhoods: A Kaleidoscope of Identities"

In this lecture, Carlos' passion for Toronto's cultural diversity will
be in evidence as he discusses downtown Toronto's Kensington Market,
Little Italy, and Little Portugal communities. Learn about the waves
of immigration and subsequent processes of urban change that have
contributed to the richly textured histories and unique identities of
these neighbourhoods.

Dr. Teixeira is a former U of T professor now teaching at Okanagan
University College in British Columbia. He received his BSc and MSc
from the Université du Québec à Montréal, and a PHD from York
University.
Dr. Teixeira has written 3 books on the Portuguese in Canada. He has
also had several articles published in journals such as Urban
Geography, Professional Geographer, Canadian Geographer, and Urban
Studies. His research focuses on urban and social geography, with an
emphasis on migration processes, community formation, housing and
neighbourhood change, ethnic entrepreneurship and the social structure
of North American cities.
