Sorry Armando, I didnt explain myself properly. I should have said "close
the programme" rather than disable it, I guess. I know that by pressing the
Ctrl key it will allow the next window to open (as in my internet banking).
What I really wanted to do is to turn it all off for a little while. I
couldnt right click on the icon to tell it to exit (because the icon isnt in
the system tray, or anywhere else) and nor could I "end task" it from Task
Manager because it did not show up in the applications.
I might give one of those other browsers a try, if I dont like it I can
always change it back.
Thanks
Sandy:)
PS What does PTFB mean (shhhhhhhh, I wont tell anyone!!)

Try pressing the Alt key when clicking on a link that
should result in a pop-up window that you'd like to
accept. Usually that will disable most blockers
momentarily.

Checked the manual? Remember the old adage "RTFM",(Read
The Fine Manual)?
You can also try the Ctrl key.

As many avid pop-up blockers that are available if that
one doesn't suit you(perhaps it's XP), try another, or
another one yet.

Google has a toolbar with a pop-up stopper. All of the
tabbed browsers have pop-up stoppers, with an override
key predefined.

I like Crazy Browser... & MyIE2 is good also. Avant is
anodder one. All these work on top of IE. If you
uninstall IE they all fizzle out as well.

The best, IMO, is "Fast Browser", but it's not free.
It's got a nag window after the trial period ends.

(P.S.: U can overcome it with PTFB, but don't tell 'em
*I* said so)

I was in my Netscape email acct. this morn & tried
writing a message; thought something was amiss when the
"write mail" api wouldn't open. It took me a while to
realize the popup blocker in Mozilla was blocking me.
As if Windows wasn't irksome enough!

HTH,
armando

Another question for
you:
I have Panicware's Pop Up Stopper
Free Edition installed and it works well - running in
the background
(I think is the expression). However, occasionally I
want to disable it when I
want certain windows to pop up (ie when shopping).
Even though I know it is working,
it should have a little white hand icon down in the
system tray, which it does
not. If I go to Start, Programmes and try and access it
from there, a little box
pops up (how ironic) and tells me to right click the
white hand in the system
tray to access the options!!
My question is
twofold:
1) How can I disable the programme
when I want to (I suspect you might say uninstall and
reinstall),
and
2) Why does the programme not show
up in my Task Manager as an application (thinking I
could go there to close
it)?
Thanks,
Sandy :)
