Thanks for all of your prayers. I sent a letter (which Brian
previewed/helped with wording) to the elders last night explaining more
fully why I felt I must speak. I scooted out quickly after the meeting on
Sunday, but Brian said a couple people stopped him, told him they were
"statistics," and thanked us for saying something, so maybe this whole
things was for them to know that they are not alone or uncared for. Don't
know for sure, just trying to obey even when it's scary. Praying that the
elders stop and think of those among us who have been hurt and that the
elder who has a hurt one as a wife will be tender with her. Please pray
that he will love her well. This whole thing has shaken her.

up and no elder addressed or warned about the content or offered another
solution, with Brian's support (he watched the video and agreed) I stood up
and said something. I was concerned that people would be blindsided and
hurt unduly. I, personally, have a lot of anger/hurt/confusion in regards
to the elders and honestly to the whole system that seeks to prevent sexual
abuse, but makes no place of safety for the adults who have already been
abused. Do you we all need training? Yes. Do we all need to be exposed to
explicit content? No. You can't tell me that this can't be done with more
care and grace.
Would love your prayer as I, myself, process this whole event, and
prayer that if/when I meet with the elders I would be able to explain
myself well and that maybe they would understand.
