I think this shift is what encouraged our pastors to join. They also have
great resources for planting churches. It has been neat to see what they
have set up for training and resources. We are moving into our building
this year and planting next.

Yes, the SBC has changed a lot in our lifetimes. From what I understand,
it was getting more and more liberal until Al Mohler became president.
There has been a conservative resurgence. There is a lot of good teaching
and writing coming out of SBC circles now.

They are careful with their words, but they seem pretty careful with
their Scripture, too. They are a part of the SBC, and so are we, so I was
curious. (Though I guess the SBC can have a pretty broad spectrum in it.
I have enjoyed Chandler, too! In fact, I sent one of his messages on the
purpose of women to my sister. We have talked a lot recently about missing
our dad. Not the right term, but he was our cheerleader. He thought we
could do anything and that we would do it well. This belief pushed us to
try harder, to dream bigger. He saw value in us and spoke to us about what
he saw. It's hard to lose that. Hearing this message by Chandler made me
feel much like I had just spent time with dad. It was a sweet gift.
I have thoroughly appreciated how they have pushed Bible literacy. I
thought I had a pretty good grasp. Listening to Jen Wilkins make me
understand that I have been playing in the shallow end of the pool in my
own Bible study. I am capable of more, better, deeper study, and I should
be doing it for my sake and for the Body's sake. And I need to teach others
in my sphere to do it, too.

By the way, I am far away from you, but you seem better for the trip
which will make you a better mommy long-term. Ivan may not get that, but
one day he will be old enough to.
