I will be praying. I agree that you shouldn't have to go to college to learn
this. I think if Bible Study is doing right and someone comes along side the
next leader.... It gets passed on. In regards to discipleship I agree (with the
younger generation) olders don't want to take the time. I don't think there
isnt any one right way. I do believe that discipleship takes place mainly in
the day to day things. Take them shopping with you, out of coffee, baking...
and using those opportunities to talk.

Agreed, Carrie!!! We really need it in the church!!! Craig and I often feel
like... okay, that was an okay sermon but it didn't really feel like the
piercing Sword of the Word of God in our souls...
I will pray with you for your church and for the church in general... the
church here in our area (perhaps in the whole US) just doesn't seem well... (I
will include myself in that). It seems sick... as if it is sitting on the
couch watching meaningless TV and in danger of a heart attack... maybe just
filled with nominal believers.

That sounds great, Bonnie! Glad you could be there.
Would you pray with me? I am very burdened that this type of Bible teaching
needs to be happening in our church. That none of our kids should have to go to
Bible college to learn how to study the Bible for themselves. I'm also
concerned that the ladies in our church take a more active role in disciplining
our teen girls . . .not sure where all this is leading, but it's been building
inside me for a while. I have a meeting Sat. morning with the leader of our
women's ministries. Lots going on in my head.
Have you seen this kind of discipleship done well? What did it look like?

Finally am able to sit and write ☺. Last week James and I were able to attend
the Refresh Conference at Faith in Iowa. We had been hearing good things about
them, but had never been to their campus. James and I were very impressed with
what we saw. The attitudes of the students was refreshing. All the students
that were working it, setting up\taking down, serving the dinner, working the
snack shop were all volunteers. The coffee was all free, yes we took advantage
of that ☺The President, Jim Tillotson was always with students, very visible.
His wife the same way. She was very involved with the ladies side and was
always with girl students. You all were in my thoughts because u would of
enjoyed the ladies workshops. I told my husband I hadn't heard a ladies
speaker in a long time where you walked away knowing your Bible better. Hope
Taylor did 3 of them. Two were a two part. She teaches at the school and does a
class on how to teach \study for a bible study. You all would of been cheering
in her workshop on Bible study. It was so good to hear that this is what she is
teaching. She also did a workshop from Lamentations 3:18-27. It was such an
encouragement, almost didn't go. Verse 23 really hit. His mercies are new every
morning. We don't have to save them up or wonder if there will be enough
because he is faithful. If you are interested they will be putting them up on
their web site. The Bible Study one may be a little confusing without the
notes.
