Update: I was just telling a girl here (she would be an excellent Trailer
5er!) that I feel like God's timing is a roller coaster...not the small
ones...a BIG one. You know how you get into the cart and they strap you in
then you leave the station. You are excited about the ride but still a bit
nervous but ready for the thrill. The "click click" of the chain taking
you up so that you can have the thrill of swooping down and looping
upside-down....You think you know when you have reached the top and you
have mentally prepared for the chain to release and you begin the whirlwind
coaster. But you guessed wrong and there is more chain. It seems like
every few seconds, you think, OK, this is it.....OK, this is it....OK, THIS
is it....and then OK, THi............and there you go! Well, that is me!
I am slated to leave Guam 29 May and fly to Bahrain for about a week of
training. Then the plan is to be in Djibouti by 6 June....and hit the
ground sprinting!
Between now and then....
-Finishing grading work for the two UMUC classes I just taught this month.
-Continue the full time job in the office (get summer classes filled)
-Get ready for Graduation Commencement ceremony for UMUC (lots of visiting
VIPs)
-Help what I can with Harvest BBC commencement
-Finish my final grad class so that I can be cleared to teach math for UMUC
-Pack out 14 years on Guam
-Decide what I want to keept
-Decide what will actually fit in my room in Djibouti (it is a converted
shipping container with a twin bed, a desk, and shelf above my bed and a
small stand up closet. I think I might have a sink for brushing my teeth
and washing my hands. Shared bathroom and showers)
-Sell what doesn't fit
-Get to the post office to mail all the packages
-Get all the shots (seasonal flu, typhoid, yellow fever, MMR, polio, Hep A,
Hep B, Hep C, etc)
-Get my supply of malaria meds
OK, I didn't mean to say all that to you guys but once I got going it
became a list for me :)
-Oh, and spend time with people and say goodbyes
Like I said....the roller coaster! We wait for God's timing but when it is
here, it seems to come in a rush! :). Good thing I am "strapped in" by His
Word and grace!!
Pastor Gary Walton has been preaching about grace this year. The last two
weeks have been out of Romans 14 and have been an excellent discussion on
a, sometimes, very touchy chapter. He has such a biblical view and
application, it is refreshing. He is not about the traditions but about
what the Bible says and speaks clearly on!

It's kicking my butt. One is about researching (so that I can do the final
project this summer and graduate hopefully by the end of August) and the
other is about learning disabilities. I'm having a hard time with doing
both because they are in subjects I am not familiar with and have little to
connect with in my past. I'm a little over 1/2 way done, and I need to
buckle down for the next 3 weeks. (sigh) I know I'm burnt out (and now
sick), so prayers for persistence and perseverance to the end would be
appreciated.
