I'm in a LOT of discord channels and they ALL have history :)
I suppose in the ones you're mentioning, it was deactivated.
IRC is cool, but I find it impractical on many levels. I still use it, but
in terms of ergonomics we've moved forward to better tools now.
It's fun to use on a c64 or an old machine though.

IRC does not have history that you can access from a normal client on a
normal server. You only see what happened since you connected.
