Rich, you are a valuable asset for us. TN and KY, western NC, SC and VA, and northern GA together should have upwards of 3,000 moths. Maybe an area website... instead of state by state... would be in order. eg southern Appalachians..... to include the mountains and plateau/piedmont on either side, but not be confused with strictly coastal species. Limit the list by geographical habitat instead of political boundaries. Just a thought. Looking forward to the company. I hope Tennesse's list will catch up with Kentucky's moth. As a team we can have a better Knowledge of there range as we work together. Southern TN should get quite a variety of moths. Just kidding enjoying the Tenn. moth post. KY does. Merrill, you need to take treks over into Johnson Co, TN and find some mountain moths for us. (In your spare time.LOL) Thank you, J N, for reporting from Marion Co. When we get a good cross-section of the state, our list will expand quickly. Our FOY total is now 90. For folks like myself who are just starting out, it is encouraging to know that time and patience will get you there. Would be interesting to know how many others out there have collections of moth photos and the number of photos in their collections. If the proposed Tennessee list of 1,400 is anywhere close to accurate, we all have a long way to go. Thanks to those who help us newcomers with photo id's. The moth world is so vast that just identifying each species is almost overwhelming. Thanks also to those who post their findings with name and Hodges #. I continue to add to our new state list as things come in.
