I have 4 people that say this is a Dun so that's what I'm going with. The Duns
I saw last year must have all been males because they didn't have the forewing
spots. They also were lighter and had gold heads.

I know that in general, butterflies feeding on mud are males but obviously
there are exceptions since this one is a female.

A few other notes on recent sightings.
Orange Sulphurs are into another generation here. They disappeared for about a
week and then a bunch of larger, fresh looking beauties showed up a few days
ago. Eastern Commas and QM's did basically the same thing although they
disappeared for a few weeks. Now there are a bunch of the summer forms flying
about.

Azures have never been common on the farm and in 2007 and 2008, I don't think I
saw more than 2 or 3 each year. I'm seeing at least 3 or 4 each day and usually
more than that.

Dragonflies are doing incredibly well this year. The numbers of the common
species are way up and I'm seeing species I haven't seen here before.

Common Buckeyes have not been common at all this year. I've only seen one this
year at my place.

When I first moved here I was told I needed to brush hog everything twice a
year which is what I did the first 2 years. A brush hog is a high powered mower
that mows down pretty much everything including small trees. Now I'm leaving
some of the back pastures semi-wild and I think it's paying off. You're
supposed to bush hog to keep down the populations of bugs and snakes but I like
bugs and snakes. :-)
