TN-birders,

Thanks for all the advice to my friend with woodpecker damage to her home in
Lake Tahoe. I think this must be a record number of responses for tn-bird.
She surely will be able find an answer to her problems from some of these.

Early this morning I watched a hungry juvenile male Hairy wdpkr working on a
dead maple limb. Starting at the base of the limb it worked it's way to the
end making the chips fly in all directions and occaisionally stopping to probe
and collect a mess of grubs.. I had never thought just how much damage one
bird could do to a wooden house. Living close to the woods I have never had
that trouble.
