I birded Anderson Rd Rec Area and Hamilton Creek Rec area (Rutherford Co) this
morning on the west side of Percy Priest. Dozens of golden-crowned kinglets
mingling with resident chickadees and titmice. I couldn't pull out a
red-breasted nuthatch. A few ruby-crowned kinglets were present too.

At Anderson Rd, I had a flock of 12 bluebirds chasing and fighting with each
other and a Field Sparrow perched up in a sapling oak the parking lot and
watched the broohaha.

On the lake, I found one Horned Grebe, a handful of Pied-billed Grebes, 2
blue-winged teal, a bunch of mallards, and a ball of 50 coots. No other ducks,
no terns, gulls, or waterbirds.

At Hamilton Creek by the mtn bike parking lot, I found an immature Eastern
Wood-pewee foraging constantly. I had not planned to see much at that stop and
left my camera in the car. I got nice looks at the bird in my scope at fairly
close range. I went back and got the camera and couldn't relocate the bird of
course. The pewee was very much unexpected, but a nice highlight for the day.

Good birding!
