The following is a list of many state ornithological societies, ornithological 
unions and
those who have functioned as such.  The order is by year of founding.  Not 
included 
are groups with many types of functions and blended histories such as state 
Audubon 
groups with various other agendas beyond serving as a state ornithological 
society.
Some states have nothing more than a "records committee" and have not been
included.
