Tuesday 29 Mar 2005 at Joachim Bible Refuge Unit of Lick Creek Bottoms Wildlife
Management Area in Greene Co., TN I heard the sounds of both displaying
American Woodcocks and Wilson's Snipe. I heard the "winnowing" of snipe there
last Spring also. This is the only place I have ever heard the sound of the
snipe flight display. I read that it is usually heard over their breeding
grounds up north, but also sometimes during migration. I am curious to know
how frequently the snipe flight display is heard in Tennessee. Any other lucky
listeners out there?
