Got several first-of-season birds at home this weekend (west Knox Co)
including Ruby-throated Hummingbird, Red-eyed and Yellow-throated
Vireo, Prairie Warbler, Scarlet Tanager, and Indigo Bunting -- all
behind schedule relative to their early arrival dates for the yard.
Did manage to set a new early arrival date for Yellow Warbler with
2 birds on Sunday (19 April) though more because of a lack of previous
sightings than them actually being early.

I now have 20 species that I regularly see here each spring which
are running behind their early arrival date -- some by a few days,
others by a week or more. Black-throated Green and Black-and-White
Warblers made only their 2nd appearance of the season this weekend.
Chimney Swifts (normally resident by now) have not been seen since
about 6 passed through on 11 April.

A NORTHER HARRIER steaming it's way along the ridge Monday morning
(20 April) was an added bonus and rare sighting for the yard. Had
a singing Hermit Thrush Monday as well after a few days absence.
Purple Finches set a new late date and the Pine Siskins are still
around though in reduced numbers -- no definite breeding signs but
there are two that suspiciously seem to come to the feeder together
as was the case when the one grabbed the cat fur.
