I know its hard to believe with the chilly air out there, but spring is upon
us.

Yesterday (Wed 1/27), at Moccasin Bend (Chattanooga), I heard a Towhee
singing. I haven't seen the huge flock of 300+ Robins at all this week, so
I'm assuming that they have moved north. Nor have I seen the appx. 150
Cedar Waxwings that were hanging around with those Robins; however, they
seem to have moved up the street to my apt. Yesterday there were about 100
or so waxwings seemingly fighting over the berries in two holly trees. I
was a little struck by this, because there were two more holly trees about 8
ft. away and none of birds seemed interested in those trees at all. Another
first of the year, I had a Phoebe on Monday at Moccasin Bend. I haven't seen
any there all winter.

Purple Finch are still coming to my feeder. Between them and the goldfinch
I have to refill it almost daily.
