This morning in the snow I had a male purple finch at the black oil
sunflower seed feeder with a couple of house finches. west Knox County,
Tenn. So continues the pattern. The past 4 winters I've had one lone
purple finch, one day, at that feeder. The first 3 were female/s and all in
November (but not Nov. 2005).

First of season common grackle was seen in the yard Thursday morning, Feb.
16 & again Friday, Feb. 17 but not today yet. It's always cool to see the
first one but they soon multiply and I'm glad to see them leave again in the
fall.

Brown Thrasher going to town on the suet hanging in the cedar tree right
beside back deck. Nothing new but nice to watch up real close.

Knox County, Tennessee
