30 March S. Fork Holston River Kingsport (just downstream from Netherland Inn) Great Blue Heron - 6 occupied nests Dbl-cr. Cormorant - 1 sitting on nest This cormorant nest should be watched further to comfirm that it is an active nest, which is the first known from the 5-county area of Northeast Tenn. Of course, cormorants have been nesting on the Holston Army Ammunition Plant just downriver in adjacent Hawkins Co. since 1992, although last years nesting was disrupted by the nearby eagle nest. The Kingsport nest is undoubtedly an expansion from that rookery. Black-cr. Night-Heron - 2 - at mouth of Reedy Cr. ################### Rick Knight Johnson City, TN rknight@xxxxxxxxxxxxx =================NOTES TO SUBSCRIBER===================== The TN-Bird Net requires you to sign your messages with first and last name, city (town) and state abbreviation.
