2020 December 26

In the cold weather I've been checking my feeders regularly and
had just the usual suspects with the addition of an extensive
group of HOUSE SPARROWs descending on the feeders and pigging
out on the seed. This year with the major winter irruption,
I've had my hopes up. Finally, this morning I got a belated
Christmas present when I spied 2 PINE SISKINs on my niger
feeder, who stayed long enough for my wife to see them
as well. While several birders in the area have been inundated
with the siskins, this was a new species and a nice addition
to my yard list.
