In case you look for the Allen's Hummingbird and also might need Mute Swan, there are eight of the latter not too far from the site of the hummingbird, which was still present yesterday. From Horseshoe Bend Rd., go east on Rt. 70 to the small town of Chestnut Mound and look on the left for Rt. 53, going north to Granville. Take Rt. 53 about four-five miles, passing over Indian Creek (Smith/Jackson Co. line) and passing into the small town of Granville. You will see a large bridge ahead that goes over Martin Creek; just before the bridge there is a Volunteer Fire Dept. on the left; just past the fire dept., there is a small parking lot for a picnic area on the left; park in the lot and walk down to the river's edge, scanning across the river for the swans. If the swans are not visible here, you might have to continue on Rt. 53 over the bridge to the first road on the left, Holleman's Bend Rd.; take it and scan for the swans at all areas where the road offers a view of the river. Tommy and Virginia Curtis first found these swans in Dec.; Carol Williams photographed them in Jan. They were present yesterday.
