For those who wish to pursue the subject further see below a couple of pertinent web sites related to No. Bobwhite quail; Quail Unlimited and some of TWRA's NOBO info. The Quail Unlimited site has links under "habitat" and a link to article "KY methods for preserving quail habitat". It has references to ..."native grass buffers" for cattle farmers etc. The TWRA site lists habitat enhancement/ protection/restoration programs available to farmers and landowners. Programs such as WHP and TNLIP give cash and matching grants for habitat improvement. There may be more articles and info out there. Was not able to find archived the article I saw on NOBO in last years' Hunting and Trapping Guide (the hunting schedule magazine). We have every reason to cooperate with agencies and groups working to preserve a much-loved but declining native bird. And we should respect the experience of dedicated wildlife professionals like Mr Applegate, and understand the frustration of waging a so far loosing battle to save it. Again, as TOS representative, I would offer our help in any way possible. _http://www.qu.org/_ (http://www.qu.org/) _http://tennessee.gov/twra/habitatconserv.html_ (http://tennessee.gov/twra/habitatconserv.html) RICHARD CONNORS Tennessee Ornithological Society President '07-'09 603 Barrywood Dr. Nashville TN 37220 (615)832-0521 **************A Good Credit Score is 700 or Above.
