I spent today covering much of the same ground noted on Mike Todd's posting, ended with 71 species. I missed the LeConte's Sparrows but did manage Vesper's in 2 spots and one Fox. I also had a latish Swainson's Thrush and Nashville Warbler. There are A White Pelicans everywhere one looks on the Tennessee River. The new observation deck at Bennett's Creek Overlook (the site of old maintenance building on road to Pace Point) is beautiful. It gives a great perspective with views into the eagle roost and 180 degrees around to the lake. Unfortunately, there are at least 200 yards of willows extending north from the opening recently cut that need to be trimmed for viewing, not sure whether they ran out of money?? Who should we talk with to accomplish this?? The parking area is interesting, 6 spots, 4 for the general public and 2 paved spots for handicapped only. I am sure this is politically correct but looks like a poor use of money/resources.
