Got distracted by picking up our mailbox out of the yard where someone slid down the hill and took it out overnight so I missed much of the morning gull flight. But before the distractions, I had 6 HERRING GULLs mixed in with the Ring-billeds. That's a pretty good number for Knox Co. One group of 4 (3 1st winter and 1 adult or 3rd winter) then 2 singles (both 1st winter). Thursday morning the Ring-billed numbers were close to 1000. If anyone is interested in watching for the gulls, the Food City parking lot on Middlebrook Pike would be a good vantage point. You should be there before 8AM. A scope would be good. Watch for them to fly south to north, rather high up.
