Tracey and I had at least 2 Palm Warblers flitting around our south
Blount County yard on Monday, October 10.

We also had at least 2 White-crowned Sparrows and (finally!) a
Magnolia Warbler in the yard. This is the first "maggie" I've seen
this fall. I thought they were avoiding me or something.

A Great-horned Owl was calling within a few hundred yards of the
house this morning.

All weekend the bird of the day at Tremont (Great Smoky Mountains
National Park, Blount County) was Scarlett Tanager. At one point the
Dogwood Tree (Cornus florida) outside our office had 9 Scarlett
Tanagers, a Grat Catbird and a Rose-breasted Grosbeak in it. I did
see a lone Summer Tanager in it on Saturday.
