This morning on Keebler Rd., just south of Limestone in Washington Co., there were 2-3 Lapland Longspurs mixed in with 80+ Horned Larks, plus 12 Am. Pipits and 2 Harriers. This is the same site where I found a single longspur earlier in the month & where up to 8 wintered last year. On my way home, I spied 2 Sandhill Cranes flying over Hairetown Rd., near Jonesborough. I tried to follow them, but lost them behind a ridge. They may have settled into a corn field. Both of these species are rare, but increasing, in northeast Tenn. ################### Rick Knight Johnson City, TN rknight@xxxxxxxxxxxxx =================NOTES TO SUBSCRIBER===================== The TN-Bird Net requires you to sign your messages with first and last name, city (town) and state abbreviation. ----------------------------------------------------- ---------------------------------------------------- To post to this mailing list, simply send email to: tn-bird@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx ----------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, send email to: tn-bird-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx with 'unsubscribe' in the Subject field. * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * TN-Bird Net is owned by the Tennessee Ornithological Society Neither the society(TOS) nor its moderator(s) endorse the views or opinions expressed by the members of this discussion group.
