Rankin Bottoms
Cocke Co, TN
6 Sept 2011

Dave Kirschke and Rack Cross are still at Rankin Bottoms
as darkness falls across the mudflats where they just found
the Marbled Godwit, Hudsonian Godwit and one of the two
Red-necked Phalaropes reported earlier today.

For those birders who may be headed that way to find the
rare trio, they observed the birds about a 100 yards before
you arrive at the large observing and parking area which is
before the coal tipple.

There is a 6-foot high tree stub at the area and they looked
out at an angle of about "2 o'clock". They good see the birds
across the roadway which has been exposed from the falling
water.

They last observed the birds about 6:50 p.m.

Let's go birding . . . .
