About 3:30 PM today, I noticed a massive feeding flurry with chickadees,
titmice, cardinals, wrens, juncos and ferociously fighting male house finches
trying to fend off the one male purple that showed up to claim a meal. It
seemed
as if I had more birds than ever. My chickadees and titmice seemed to both
have late nests, and I think their brood(s) are still here. Several pairs of
all the birds except juncos and p. finch nest here, but it seems like I've had
a
bumper crop. Mourning doves, mockers, robins, house sparrows and rock
pigeons were all in abundance as well. I've had two white-throats off and on,
but I
did not see them today when I was doing kitchen duty which was my only time
to watch.
