Yesterday, 6/26/06 I went to check on a barn owl nest in Brace which is
north of Ethridge in Lawrence County at the junction of N Brace and S Brace
roads. The people across the street from it had noticed increased activity
the night before and both parents and the chicks were calling constantly all
night. When I got there at 8 PM I stayed for one hour and only saw the
parent twice and it didn't come to the nest tree. Is it possible that the
chicks fledged the night all the activity was going on? Or is it just normal
for activity to fluctuate that much from night to night? And info would be
greatly appreciated.
