How 'bout them Cubbies!!! Woohoo!

This morning (Mon, 6 Oct), a quick look around the backyard
in west Knoxville before work yielded yard bird #114, Blue
Grosbeak. I'd had a couple of could-'a-been looks before but
this was the first for-sure sighting.

Sunday was another great day in the yard (not just because
of the Cubs win). 40 species on the day with an incredible
12 warbler species smashing last week's one-day record of
9 warbler species. 10 of those were seen within about 30-40
minutes Sunday morning in a nice wave. 2 vireos, 2 tanagers,
2 flycatchers and 5 woodpeckers were nice, too. No thrushes
(did have one on Saturday) and no hummingbirds since 1 Oct.

Highlights from Sunday in the yard:

Turkey Vulture - 3, heading south along the ridge
Cooper's Hawk - 1, looked to be going south too
Chimney Swift - 3+, first in almost a week
Yellow-bellied Sapsucker - 2, first of the season
Eastern Wood-Pewee - several
Eastern Phoebe
Yellow-throated Vireo - 1
Red-eyed Vireo - 1
Blue Jay - about 50 heading south within 30-40 min
Tennessee Warbler - at least 3, probably a lot more
Nashville Warbler - 1, second time for the yard
Chestnut-sided Warbler - 1
Cape May Warbler - 1
Yellow-rumped Warbler - 1, first of the season
Black-throated Green Warbler - 1
Blackburnian Warbler - 1 or 2
Yellow-throated Warbler - 1
Pine Warbler - 1
Palm Warbler - at least 3
Bay-breasted Warbler - 2
American Redstart - 1 adult male
Summer Tanager - at least 2
Scarlet Tanager - 2
