This morning (6 April 06) I visited a small pond on Clemmons Rd. in Putnam Co. and found 7 American Golden-Plovers, 1 Spotted Sandpiper, and 6 Pectoral Sandpipers. The Spottie set a new early spring arrival date for the county, and the golden-plovers were the first with details to be found in the county. Nancy Layzer obtained some photos of the golden-plovers, one of which I have placed at my website. For those who like keeping track of arrival dates for migrant birds, here is a link to the page of my website that tracks these matters within the Upper Cumberland Region: http://iweb.tntech.edu/sstedman/UCRArrivalDepartureDates--CentralNode.ht m Steve Stedman Cookeville, TN Putnam County =================NOTES TO SUBSCRIBER===================== The TN-Bird Net requires you to sign your messages with first and last name, city (town) and state abbreviation.
