Lake Co, Tn Reelfoot Lake Upper Blue Basin I went out to let the dogs in and heard these short scream like calls in the Cypress Trees . Was finally able to get a look at two young Great Horned Owls on the road. They came toward the light I was shining for a few hops and stood under the security light and looked toward me. What a treat. Really an odd sound. This morning I birded for a while at Lake # 9 in Ky.Fulton Co. near the Mississippi River. David Roemer had reported a Imm. Wood Stork and two Imm. White Ibis. I was there too early to have good light. Lots of shore birds and waders. But I was unable to find the target birds. Great shore bird habitat right now. YOu can drive all the way to the edge. I stood under a great shade tree. Need to go later in the morning or just later in the day.
