Late Saturday afternoon I saw an adult Yellow-crowned Night-heron at White's
Mill Wildlife Refuge. At a slightly different spot and time I also got a very
brief look at another bird that had to be either a bittern or an immature
night-heron. I did not get a good enough nor long enough look to make a
definitive ID. I went back this morning to check again, and I relocated the
adult Yellow-crowned but did not relocate the second bird. Among other birds
noted this morning were an Eastern Screech-owl, a Wood Thrush, Wilson's Snipe,
Common Yellowthroats, Green Herons, Wood Ducks, White-eyed Vireos, Blue-gray
Gnatcatchers, Swamp Sparrows, and a Cooper's Hawk.
