Memphis TN and Tunica Co, MS

?

A single Wood Stork has been evasive along?Riverport Road going into Ensley. It
was last reported by Jay Walko last week. After spending 3 days in northwest
central, MS looking for the Jabiru, over the long weekend, I stopped?by the
catfish ponds in Tunica Co, on Monday afternoon. I found a dozen Wood Storks
feeding with Great Egrets on some ponds east of Highway 51 off Highway 4.

?

Nothing like the 1,000 plus I saw?farther south but still we should be on the
alert as the Jabiru might tour northward;o)

?

On Monday afternoon,?north of Indianola, I was?trying to get close to a slough
where I had seen a few Wood Storks drop in, when a helicopter flew over. It
spooked the largest flock of Wood Storks I've ever seen. The photos of the mass
as they towered into the clouds are impressive. I'll get to counting the dots
and come up with a number some time soon.?
