Coffee County
8/18/18
Not sure when anyone else last saw this, but I'd seen the bird on the evening
of 8/13, and thought it was gone....until today. Having been back a few times
and not seen it, I was surprised this afternoon to find the bird again. Not
sure what it's surviving on. Seems to be hunting in the weeds near a tiny
creek under the shade of some big trees. The exact location (since I've seen a
few folks drive around there with confused looks, in the past) is directly
across from the T-junction of Sainville Rd and Ragsdale Rd. FYI, there are two
junctions for Sainville Rd because it loops around and back to Ragsdale. You
want the one where there road sign is actually destroyed (there's just a stop
sign). It's the end closer to the Hillsboro/Viola Hwy. You should be just to
the left of the property with a sign that says something like, "Sainville
Farms." Look down under the trees where there's a dip with a little water in
it, and it looks like a muddy little road running down to it. If the bird is
out, it should be standing somewhere within probably a thirty-foot radius of
that. I've only had luck between 5-6:30 pm. Can't believe it's still here.
For anyone who's missed it, or figured it was gone, you might try again. If
it's common knowledge that the bird is still here, I apologize. I do not check
the Facebook page.
