Simmons Bluff Rd, New Mud Holes
Stationary
Before the showers started I went out birding Wilson County. Picked up a
few new county birds for the year and then stopped at the new Mud Holes on
Simmons Bluff Rd which were created when the property's owner decided to
sell the topsoil and removed it and left the holes. It has been a great
shorebird attractor this spring. We have see 11 to 13 shorebird species
here. Very rare for Wilson County. Usually have to hunt the shallow
streams and ford's to find a few. Anyway this morning I had Greater and
Lesser Yellowlegs along with a new bird for the mud holes Semipalmated
Plovers (5). We have not met the property owner yet so we have to bird
from the entrance of the driveway. Want be able to see the mud holes much
longer because of bushes and tress leafing out.
