The John Sellars Chapter of TOS did a trial run for a new Christmas Bird
Count Circle on Saturday January 2, 2016. The new circle was generated
because the old one included the Gallitan Steam Plant which is no longer
accessible. Eleven volunteers broke into three groups and covered the area.
72 species are confirmed so far with a possible 73rd to come. Best birds
were a covey of quail, Bald Eagle, Am. Woodcock, Great Horned Owl,Screech
Owl, and a flock of 30 Wilson Snipe. Ducks were hard to come by, but we
searched every pond and body of water we new of and found a few species.
