I led a bird walk for the people at GroWild Native Plant nursery's Native
Plant Festival this morning in Fairview, TN. It was a little hot and
bright, but we started with about 20 people, mainly non-birders or new
birders. Most people dropped off after about an hour, but 5 hearty souls
spent the entire morning birding with me.
Highlights were 12 Warbler species (many of which were lifers for most),
great looks at both tanager species, the many Orchard Orioles on the
property, and a Broad-winged Hawk. Worm-eating Warbler was a specific
target bird for two birders, and a visibly singing territorial male did not
disappoint for the 6 of us at the end. It was a life bird for everyone
except me.
