We saw the White-faced Ibis twice today (Wednesday, Nov. 29) across from the
Black Bayou in Lake County. Both times it was in the same location. From the
intersection of Hwy. 213 and Choctaw McCutcheon Road near Gray's Camp, go south
to the next-to-the-last field on the left before the sharp bend to the right
(east).
We arrived at 7:00 a.m. and watched it until 7:25. We looked away briefly and
it disappeared. After checking this site and several other sites during the
day, we found it in the same field at 3:15 p.m. It did the same vanishing act
again at 3:45. In the overcast conditions, we barely made out the red iris.
At 6;55 a.m., as we were driving east on Choctaw McCutcheon Road from Hwy
78, a Barred Owl flew from the roadside ditch with breakfast and perched on a
limb next to the road to eat.
At the north side of the Air Park sewage pond, we saw a Sedge Wren for
several minutes from not more than 10 feet away.
