Old Hickory Dam, Davidson county Beach parking lot This morning at 6:30am, I scanned for the Surf Scoter found earlier this week from the dam area, and found a single White-Winged Scoter, pale spots in front of and behind the eye, and a white patch at base of wings visible most, but not all, of the time. Surf Scoter was not seen, but may still be around. With hundreds of gulls flying around, I drove over to Snow Bunting Peninsula and counted 7 Herring Gulls, most immature, among the hordes of Ring-Billed Gulls. I wish this area was on the Hendersonville side so I could check it several times a week.
